Lupita Nyong’o - the head turner
The Indian Express
Leading Indian newspaper The Indian Express February 24 carried an article on Kenyan-born Oscar-nominated actor Lupita Nyong’o where it said how she has turned countless heads on the red carpet with her striking good looks and her sublime sense of style. With designers scrambling to dress her, and fashion critics swooning over her ensemble choices, the 30-year-old has already been christened fashion’s “It” girl. Donning solid shapes and clean lines in primary colours that flatter her glowing skin, Nyong’o obviously knows what works for her.
From her Golden Globes appearance in a red-caped Ralph Lauren ensemble, a turquoise Gucci gown at the SAG Awards, to her most recent Bafta Awards appearance in a emerald green Christian Dior gown, Nyong’o has had a brilliant run so far. While many have likened her red-carpet rise to that of Freida Pinto — designers and stylists took an instant liking to the Indian model after her debut in Slumdog Millionaire in 2008 — Nyong’o says she is simply having fun. “You have to wear something to these events, so I wore things, and people took to them. It was not my agenda at all! But I’m flattered that everyone is digging my style,” she told Vulture. And now having landed Miu Miu’s Spring 2014 campaign, bigger things are in store for her. We can’t wait to see what Nyong’o will wear to the Academy Awards on March 2.
